A Brief History
Well hello. As you might have guessed, my name is Chris Cookley. I’m an author currently working on my first series of mystery books, centered around the private investigator Evan Straid.
I was raised in Southington, CT, which I think was a pretty great spot. After high school, I moved to Indiana to attend Purdue University, and I graduated in 2010. I met my wife, Sarah, at Purdue, and we moved to Nashville in 2013. We currently live just outside of Nashville with our children and dogs.
As a kid I was an avid reader. In fact, I distinctly remember my 5th grade teacher telling my parents that I was distracted in class, not because of talking or doodling, but because I hid books beneath my desk. As an adult, I still love reading, and I’ll tackle everything from thriller to horror to sci-fi, and especially since I’ve turned 30, non-fiction.
Writing was a hobby of mine as far back as middle school, though it wasn’t until I graduated from college that I started thinking maybe I could be an author.
I finished my first novel in 2014. Since then, I’ve started a few more, abandoned most, finished one and shelved it, and now I’m working on another. One of these days I’ll actually start publishing some stuff, and then this ride can begin.
I hope you’ll stick around and join me. 2021 is looking like the year.
